 Was ist Tips von Fahrrad.de
Ein Fahrrad, kurz auch Rad, in der Schweiz Velo (v. frz.: vélocipède = „Schnellfuß“, lat.: velox = schnell und pes = Fuß), ist ein in der Regel zweirädriges, einspuriges Landfahrzeug, das mit Muskelkraft durch das Treten der Pedale angetrieben wird. Es wird durch stabilisierende Kreiselkräfte der Räder sowie Gewichtsverlagerung und Lenkbewegungen des Fahrers im Gleichgewicht gehalten (siehe auch Fahrradfahren). Im Münsterland wird das Fahrrad „Leeze“ genannt.
Der Begriff „Fahrrad“ wurde durch Übereinkunft deutscher Radfahrervereine 1885 für „Bicycle“ (engl. v. frz.: le vélocipède bicycle = „das zweirädrige Veloziped“) eingeführt, ebenso „Radfahrer“ für „Bicyclist“ und „radfahren“ (das Radfahren) für „bicyceln“.
Das Fahrrad war das erste mechanische Individualverkehrsmittel. Nach der Nähmaschine war das Fahrrad das zweite technische
Serienprodukt.
